A spectacular day greeted 50 keen community volunteers on Threatened Species Day joining forces with the River Reserves, UY Landcare and Warburton Environment in a river planting day. Combined with the Warburton Primary School and Warburton Kinder planting day earlier in the month, we have planted 2500 locally native plants that will provide much needed habitat overlooking the Yarra.
A huge thanks to all the dads that got their hands dirty on Fathers Day! The plants are all establishing well and have been watered in by the recent Spring rains. We couldn't have done it without everyones help!
Thanks also to both Melbourne Water and Yarra Ranges Council who supported our event.

Spring community Planting Day – Sunday 7 September
Come along to the Warburton Community Spring Planting Day to be held on Sunday 7th September on the banks of the Yarra River, behind the Warburton oval. Bring the whole family and treat Dad to a free sausage for Father’s Day after the event! All other attendees are also eligible for a free sausage!
It is also Threatened Species Day, so there will be some educational talks about the habitat we are supporting with our planting and the bigger picture of locally threatened forest creatures- like the Leadbeater's Possum.
Bring old clothes, and gloves, a hat and a water bottle.
Meet at the Warburton Hardware Carpark for a 10 am kick off.
Planting site is beside the football oval along the river Melway: 290 C3.
Time: From 10am till 12pm. FREE BBQ after 12pm
